Channeling the soothing charm of iconic paint-along programs, this session invites you to unwind, paint freely, and enjoy gentle guidance from artist, Clare Parker (no perm required).

If painting isn’t your thing, join Sophie Bass for some junk journaling. Bring along your own journal (or any loose notebook from home) as well as any flat items you can find (such as stamps, receipts, maps) and join us for some cozy, creative crafting. Learn how to construct your own homemade junk journal kits and transform everyday, recycled items you already own into meaningful art. Cut, layer, collage, stick, share ideas and even trade your own junk with others!

Sketch & Sip: Drawing the Wild (Up Close!)

Join us for a relaxed, creative evening where art meets the natural world. In this special Sketch & Sip session, you’ll be drawing from a unique still-life setup featuring taxidermy, skulls, dried flowers — and live exotic animals provided by Pet Encounters with explanations for each animal. Expect to see an armadillo, meerkat, giant rabbit, chinchilla, and a tegu! Do you even know what that is? Find out on the 12th!

Led by Cleator Moor–based artist and community producer Kira Robson, this session invites you to slow down, observe, and explore form, texture and detail through drawing. Kira’s own practice spans acrylic painting, pencil and pen, drawing inspiration from bones, taxidermy and portraiture — blending careful observation with expressive mark-making.

With a focus on accessibility and confidence-building, Kira creates a supportive, welcoming space where everyone can connect with art in their own way. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned sketcher, you’ll be guided step-by-step to create your own striking still life study from this fascinating natural setup.

Ready to get your hands dirty and your creativity flowing? Join Steph Sykes for a relaxed, playful clay session designed to spark ideas and build confidence. This is an open, supportive session where you’re free to make whatever you can imagine — with expert guidance along the way.

Steph will demonstrate core ceramic techniques before handing the tools over to you, so you can take your work in your own creative direction. Whether you’re brand new to clay or looking to refresh your skills, you’ll learn practical foundations while exploring texture, form and pattern.

Expect a friendly atmosphere, plenty of hands-on making, and the freedom to play and experiment.

We recommend wearing old clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy — clay play can get gloriously hands-on!

LET'S MAKE A SCENE! Join Emily and Jack from Market Place Print Studio, to experiment with our range of hand carved printing blocks to create your own dynamic repeat patterns.

SExperiment with tessellation, repeat patterns, layering and freeform techniques while learning how to achieve clean, striking prints.

We’ll supply materials for practice, with organic cotton tote bags available (£3). You’re also encouraged to bring your own items to transform—whether that’s clothing, fabrics or homewares ready for a new life.

Join Sophie for a creative zine-making workshop where you'll explore different zine-making techniques, themes, and ideas.

A zine (short for "magazine") is a small, often handmade and DIY booklet that can be about absolutely anything! Share your favourite holiday memories, write a film review, celebrate your hobbies or go wild and create 'A Day in the Life of a Pigeon'. Your imagination is the only limit!

Browse a wide selection of magazines, papers, and art materials to cut, collage, and experiment with. You're also welcome to bring along your own materials you'd like to incorporate into your zine making (even those stickers you say you'll use one day)

Ever wanted to do some spray painting and not get in trouble? Well nows your chance!

Join local street artist Beardy Synergy and create your own graffiti inspired artwork with spray cans! The session will focus on basic skills required to handle and use spray paints, with lots of time for practise and experimenting with the medium. No prior art experience required just a willingness to have a go!

This workshop is perfect for those wanting to try spray painting for the first time or looking to pick up some new tips/tricks to get the most out of the medium.All materials and PPE provided to take part in this hands on workshop, though please do wear old clothes cos spray painting can be messy!

Beardy is a local street artist with 10 years experience spray painting murals across Cumbria, creating artwork for local businesses and homes, from detailed portraits to beautiful nature scenes. With a background in youth and community work Beardy also runs regular workshops and 1:1 tuition for those interested in getting into graffiti or street art.

Step into a world of witchcraft, creativity and miniature making with this hands-on workshop exploring the art of creating spell jars, designing decorative pedestals and painting miniature figures.

Participants will begin by creating their own spell jar, using a selection of materials, colours and decorative elements to develop a unique magical object. The activity provides an opportunity to explore symbolism, colour and personal creativity, with participants able to give their spell jar its own theme or purpose.

Alongside the spell jar, participants will create and decorate a small pedestal or display stand to present their finished creation. These can be designed to complement the theme of the jar, with participants encouraged to experiment with shapes, textures, patterns and decorative details to create a miniature display piece.

The workshop will also introduce participants to miniature figure painting, providing the opportunity to paint a small fantasy-inspired figure. Participants can experiment with different painting techniques, colours and details while learning how to bring a miniature character to life. The activity is suitable for those who have never painted miniatures before, as well as those who already enjoy miniature painting and want to try a more creative, relaxed approach.
