Operations and Commercial Manager
Reports to: FAC Director
Hours: Full-time over 5 days, 37.5 hours per week including minimum 1 weekend in 4 and flexibility to cover evening events and staff leave.
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £30-32,000 pa

Artist Opportunity
SCAR Commissions
Florence Arts Centre (FAC) is inviting artists to submit proposals to create a collaborative art exhibition and programme for Autumn 2025.
We have funding confirmed for 6 artists to receive a commission of £600 to complete this brief. We are awaiting the results of further funding bids, and hope to increase this to 8 artists altogether.
At 2 initial meetings with artists, a title of
SCAR – cutting through the land
was chosen. We talked about threads and lines through the landscape – both above and below ground; natural stone scars and the scars left by industry; about railway lines, rivers, wires, seams of coal and tongues of iron ore; we also touched on migration, scars as signs of healing and other wider universal themes…
Interested artists are asked to respond to this proposal with their ideas for artworks and contributions to the programme.

Helping out occasionally or doing regular sessions, there are a range of roles which volunteers enjoy at Florence - in the garden, maintaining the building, serving behind the bar or providing tech support for events, serving refreshments, helping with family activities.
