Using pigment and pastels made by Florence paintmakers as well as red ochre and charcoal. We will experiment with playful approaches to mark making and mono printing. Taking caves and tunnels of the subterranean and their related themes and symbolism as a starting point, we will create works on paper that evolve over the course of the workshop.
The aim of the workshop is to explore our unique and personal ways of working, without being concerned with a particular or finished outcome. We will also focus on the role of feeling and imagination during our making processes.
Experience or interest in drawing is not necessary and all kinds of artistic experience welcome.
Elizabeth is a Barrow born, Morecambe based multidisciplinary artist, combining sculpture, drawing, installation and sound. Her practice is rooted in the practical and intuitive exploration of material, place and community - human and non human. She explores our relationship with the physical and natural world, particularly in the realms of the subterranean, and how this story is told through our technologies, past, present and future, interrogating the relationship between science, myth and other ways of knowing and being. She is interested in the difference between constructing meaning and receiving information and her works are project specific, evolving, non generic and non linear.
Our centre is wheelchair accessible with parking on site, ramped access to the studio door and level throughout. We have a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
