Colour it Red: Exploring the Colour Red through casting and mono printing - FREE

  • Florence Arts Centre Egremont, England, CA22 2NR United Kingdom (map)

Exploring the colour red through casting and mono printing.

We will explore 2 experimental and creative ways of using iron ore from Florence Mine. Mono printing with Egremont Red pigment made on site by Florence Paintmakers and casting using plaster of Paris in red foraged clay. This fun and accessible workshop invites adults and children alike to make mini plaster sculptures and mono prints to take home.

No artistic skills needed but all experience levels welcome. The workshop includes drawing and mark making in response to sound, learning DIY printmaking skills, playing with clay, and learning how to mix and pour plaster of Paris.

Elizabeth is a Barrow born, Morecambe based multidisciplinary artist, combining sculpture, drawing, installation and sound. Her practice is rooted in the practical and intuitive exploration of material, place and community - human and non human. She explores our relationship with the physical and natural world, particularly in the realms of the subterranean, and how this story is told through our technologies, past, present and future, interrogating the relationship between science, myth and other ways of knowing and being. She is interested in the difference between constructing meaning and receiving information and her works are project specific, evolving, non generic and non linear.

Our centre is wheelchair accessible with parking on site, ramped access to the studio door and level throughout. We have a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
