Come along and have fun experimenting with watercolour and ink to produce a series of cards.
Learn to create stunning watercolour and ink greeting cards in this hands-on, beginner-friendly course. You will learn basic watercolour techniques like colour blending using wet-in-wet washes, and layering. Then, discover how to bring your designs to life using ink and watercolour detail. By the end of the session, you will possess a series of personalised, hand-painted cards. If interested, then join local artist, Rachel Metcalfe, at Florence Mine Arts Centre. You will be provided with demonstrations on a range of techniques and be shown how to build up your cards. All materials will be provided and no experience is needed – just a willingness to come and have a go!
Rachel is a West Cumbrian artist who explores a place through the experience of walking.
Inspired by the natural world, her work is an art collaboration and dialogue between nature and her journey through a place – a push and pull relationship. Rachel constantly seeks new perspectives: peeling back the layers of a place to discover something new. Her current projects involve walking and exploring the varied landscapes of West Cumbria.
She records her walking journeys through sketches made on location. Rachel then translates her sketchbook work into paintings or textiles using a range of media.
