Discover the magic of the potter’s wheel in our 6-week beginners throwing course. This intimate course is the perfect introduction to wheel throwing, held on our brand new pottery wheels in a relaxed and welcoming studio setting Tuesday evenings at Florence Arts Centre.
Across six weekly 2-hour sessions, you’ll learn the essential techniques of throwing, including centring clay, shaping forms like mugs, and developing confidence on the wheel. Guided by experienced and inspiring potter Cath Ball, you’ll receive hands-on tuition and plenty of individual support as your skills grow week by week. Plus, learn the basic techniques of glazing and firing!
Ideal for complete beginners, this course offers a creative, mindful escape and a chance to learn a timeless craft at a comfortable pace.

An optional fee of £10pp is payable for firing of items at the end of the course, collection time 4-6 weeks.
This session is suitable for beginners aged 18yrs+ with good mobility in their hands. Our centre is wheelchair accessible with parking on site, ramped access to the studio door and level throughout. We have a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
