As a part of our SEED Exhibition, Fabricate artist Sue Todd will be hosting a session on the basics of Silk Painting.
Use silk painting techniques to produce a flower design. Learn the fundamentals of silk painting in this hands-on workshop, including transferring designs onto fabric, applying gutta resist, and exploring essential painting techniques to create your own beautifully decorated silk piece.
At the end of the session, you will have your own individual piece to take home.
Sue Todd
I developed an early interest in working with fabric and at seven years old persuaded my mother to allow me to use her 1947 Singer hand sewing machine. This is the same vintage sewing machine I use to produce my textile pieces.
Following my retirement, I decided to fulfil my dream and gained a HND and a degree in Fine Art through Lakes College, Workington and University of Cumbria.
I now specialise in textiles, silk painting, watercolour painting and etching.
This session is suitable for beginners aged 16+ with reasonable mobility. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Our centre is wheelchair accessible with parking on site, ramped access to the studio door and level throughout. We have a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
