Come and join artist Bridget Kennedy for a creative session during which you will get an insight into her practice, learn how she is making her artwork for the SCAR – cutting through the land exhibition, try out some of the techniques yourself, and take part in a collaborative artwork.
This will be an opportunity to come together with others in a relaxed and creatively positive atmosphere to discuss ideas around, personal responsibility towards the planet, thinking together about the mining legacy of the region, and what our role as ancestors of the land might become. Bridget will demonstrate how she uses dowsing, weaving and drawing as part of her practice. You will have an opportunity to try some of these techniques out for yourself and take part in a collaborative artwork in which mineral based artworks will be returned to the earth in the beautiful autumnal environment of the Florence Arts Centre garden.
This is a chance for open minded adults to work as a group, to think about the industrial heritage of the area, discuss ideas about the future of the region, and get creative together. Part of this workshop will take place outside (weather permitting) so please dress appropriately.
