Come and join artist Bridget Kennedy for a family fun workshop where you will learn about how she is making her artwork for the SCAR – cutting through the land exhibition, and try out some of the techniques yourself.
Focussing on the amazing Florence Mine iron ore, Bridget will be encouraging you to think about how minerals are part of your landscape, and part of your body too. You will explore this by making your own iron ore detector rods and finding out how they can help you to make a drawing. You will have a chance to join others in making a big floor map that will form part of the SCAR exhibition, and try your hand at making a red planet painting using beautiful Egremont Red Florence Paintmaker watercolours.
This is a chance for children and their accompanying adults to work together as a group and have fun whilst learning a bit about the mineral heritage of the area. This is suitable for children over the age of eight accompanied by an adult who is willing to get stuck in and have a go too.
Workshop will run from 11am until 12:30pm, with a short break at mid-point.
