Christmas Pottery Decorations with Kaye Winfindale
Saturdays 2 and 16 December, 10am to 1pm
Cost: £45.00 (includes all materials and firing)
Add your own unique touch to your Christmas tree this year with handmade decorations! Create your own designs at this two-part pottery workshop with artist Kaye Winfindale.
Using slabwork you'll be working directly with the clay to create your own shapes and designs for Christmas tree decorations, wall-hangings and (time-permitting) night-light holders. Colour, design, decoration will make these unique keepsakes to use in your home every Christmas, or they make perfect gifts and stocking fillers.
As well as firing your imagination the classes will also give you a basic understanding of working with clay. In the first session (December 2) you'll work on the design, shape, decoration, moulding and cutting of the clay. Session two (16 December) we'll be glazing, learning how this is done and understanding the limitations and possibilities of glazing.
Then it's off to the kiln for the firing!
To make sure everyone has the time and attention from Kaye there are only eight places available on this course, so booking early is essential.
Kaye Winfindale is a ceramic artist who hand crafts unique pieces in her beautiful studio overlooking Maryport harbour. Creating work for galleries, craft fairs and other retail outlets, she defines herself as a experimental ceramicist and is always on the lookout for interesting materials from the surrounding landscape to include in her work which means that no two items are ever the same.
Her classes are popular with beginners and more experienced potters alike. Don't miss your chance to get to grips with clay at our first (of many) new pottery classes!
