There’s a great live music scene here in West Cumbria and our monthly Open Mic and Jazz Nights are a great way to check out local acts – for FREE!
On the third Wednesday (Open Mic) and the third Friday (Jazz) we open for an evening of free live music with an eclectic mix of songs – you can come along and get your name on the board for a floor spot, or just get yourself a drink from the bar and enjoy the music. No night is the same so make sure you check us out each month.
We’ve had some fantastic and very varied performances, from live science experiments to spoken word, story-telling and singer-songwriters. There is a strong music scene in West Cumbria and our intimate auditorium provides an opportunity for musicians to get together and try out performances in front of an eager crowd, and there’s a regular cohort of very talented musicians who will be happy to jam along with you. Don’t be afraid to try something new or cover a classic – and for Jazz Night we’ve had everything from Amy Winehouse and Frank Sinatra to Basie and Brubeck.
If you’re looking for an open mic atmosphere where the music comes first then Florence is the place; we have a relaxed and friendly vibe, a well-stocked licenced bar (or tea and coffee if preferred!) and a supportive crowd, so come along and enjoy the music or bring your own instrument and play solo or jam. Turn up on the night and book a slot or come along to watch and enjoy the music – the variety is always surprising.
Open Mics and Jazz Nights are really popular so whether you’re a pro trying out new material, or just getting started and want to play for a crowd, come down and join in.
