Katie Doherty and The Navigators present heart - warming, life-affirming new songs by three award winning folk musicians, led by singer songwriter Katie Doherty and elevated by instrumentalists Shona Mooney (The Shee, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the year 2005,) and Dave Gray (Världens Band). 

 

Hailing from Teesside and based in Newcastle for a long time until she was swept off her feet and up a hill in County Durham by her Sheep Farming Husband...Katie is an Award winning songwriter, nowadays she is well known for her work with theatre, having composed the score for the award winning rural touring musical Beyond the End of The Road as well as countless others for November Club, Northern Stage, RSC as well as New York Fringe Festival 'Best of the Fringe' Winner 'The Fall'. Previously, Katie has toured with Kathryn Tickell, supported Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Karine Polwart and Ray Davies amongst others.

She took part in the prestigious Aftershock residency with Nitin Sawhney in which she composed and performed with Nitin to sold out crowds. She has recorded and toured with German based, British folk band Broom Bezzums for the past six years. Katie was the unanimous choice of judges Guy Garvey and Andy McCluskey for the MBF Award for Song Creation and as a result of the award released her first album on Park records alongside Steeleye Span and Kathryn Tickell. Katie Doherty and The Navigators album is due for release in Autumn 2018.
