Florence LIVE is a brand new monthly night of great live music at Florence Arts Centre, bringing you the best of Cumbrian talent, plus dancing 'til 1am!

Each month you'll get the chance to see four live acts - all local, all live - and all for just a fiver!

The line-up for our launch night is a perfect example of the range of talent on offer each month from solo singer-songwriters to up-and-coming new bands....

Anne-Marie McStraw is a multi-instrumentalist born and bred in the small town of Cleator Moor, Cumbria. After completing her music degree specialising in violin studies at York St.John University Anne-Marie performed with local band The Black Guards for several years and has recently set out on her own solo journey performing regularly at venues all over Cumbria.

You may have seen Anne-Marie in many different capacities playing violin, guitar, whistle, mandolin. Tonight you will meet Anne-Marie’s solo set of songs that take you on a journey through her life; from the people she’s met to the job she’s had and the places she loves. All songs featured on her debut EP 7 Stages Of which is set to be released Summer 2018.

Springfield are a Whitehaven based indie/alternative band formed in the early months of 2016. Made up of four members, drummer Mitchell, bassist Ben and Pritchard twins Lewis and Rhys who make up the guitar section of the band. Springfield began playing a range of covers and taking inspiration in their songwriting from artists such as Two Door Cinema Club and Catfish and the Bottlemen.

After gigging solidly in Whitehaven and the surrounding areas during 2016, the band decided it was time to incorporate their original music into their sets. Springfield then recorded their first single titled December.  BBC Radio Cumbria picked up on the track after submission and it has had numerous airplays. They have since submitted more tracks and gained airplay through the BBC Introducing system. The band have continued to write and create music this tear and recently perfomred a stripped back acousitc set at our very own Flo Fest. Tonight we're going to experience the full force of this great foursome.

Melanie Baker is an 18 year old singer-songwriter from Penrith who sings a variety of her own acoustic folk / pop-styled ballads

As well as regularly gigging around Cumbria, Melanie has gained popularity online and successfully released her debut EP Strangers and single What Ifs over the last year.

West Cumbrian trio Keenan, Danny and Daniel take their name from local goose-rustler and cave dweller Goosey Tyson... but their talent may soon mean the name belongs entirely to them.

With a set of handpicked covers and their own tunes, Goosey Tyson are new on the scene but you'll be seeing more of them in no time. Be sure to see them now before they're selling out large venues!
