Our FREE matinee screenings are back, presenting a classic film, a cult favourite or a contemporary curiosity every Friday afternoon at 2pm. Our café and bar will be open before and after the film and everyone is welcome (please check individual films below for certification information).

Billy Wilder’s classic comedy. A man tries to rise in his company by letting its executives use his apartment for trysts, but complications and a romance of his own ensue.

A young woman comes to Hollywood with dreams of stardom, but achieves them only with the help of an alcoholic leading man whose best days are behind him. The first version of this oft-told tale.

Manderley (2005)

A story of slavery, set in the southern U.S. in the 1930s. , from director Lars von Trier.

 

Friday 2 February

Stalingrad (1993) (in German with English subtitles)

Dominique Horwitz, Thomas Kretschmann, Jochen Nickel

The story follows a group of German soldiers, from their Italian R&R in the summer of 1942 to the frozen steppes of Soviet Russia and ending with the battle for Stalingrad.

Marie Antoinette (1938)

The tragic life of Marie Antoinette, who became queen of France in her late teens given the MGM treatment.
