Loving Vincent (2017)
Friday 27 October at 7pm
To coincide with this year's Big Draw: Living Lines at Florence Arts Centre, we are thrilled to present the world's first fully animated feature film using oil paintings: Loving Vincent.
An extraordinary achievement, the film has been created by directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman and a team of 115 painters... each frame is an individual oil painting in the style of the film's subject Vincent van Gogh - a total of 65000 separate oil paintings.
On 27 July 1890 a gaunt figure stumbled down a drowsy high street at twilight in the small French country town of Auvers.
The man was carrying nothing; his hands clasped to a fresh bullet wound leaking blood from his belly. This was Vincent van Gogh, then a little known artist; now the most famous artist in the world. His tragic death has long been known, what has remained a mystery is how and why he came to be shot. 'Loving Vincent' tells that story.
With a cast that includes Douglas Booth, Chris O'Dowd, Helen McCrory, Aidan Turner, Saoirse Ronan, John Sessions, Jerome Flynn.
