Garden Painting Workshop with Ceri Allen

Join acclaimed artist and tutor Ceri Allen in our own secret garden for this one-off workshop exploring the ideas and techniques that great painters have used to depict gardens.

 

The artists discussed in this full-day workshop include Monet, Pissarro, Cezanne, Kandinsky, Matisse amongst many others.

 

Weather permitting, this workshop will be held outside in our own garden here at Florence Arts Centre. It is suitable for artists with a little experience and you'll need to bring along your preferred paints and/or drawing materials, a portable easel and a stool (if you have one). You are also welcome to bring along your own sketches or images which may be useful for working indoors should the weather change, or find suitable subjects amongst the books in Florence's art library.

Matisse: Luxembourg Gardens

Ceri Allen studied painting at City & Guilds School of Art, London and has exhibited widely in the UK and  USA.

Her work is included in public and private collections including  St Mary's Hospital Paddington, Corpus Christi College, Oxford and Tullie House Museum Carlisle

 

She has taken up numerous artists residencies, which  include  Corpus Christi College, Oxford, The NCCA, St Petersburg , Cumbria Institute for the Arts and  Lancaster Castle.  She recently was  commissioned to produce a painting for the Oxford Almanack 2017.
