' proof of how fresh, vigorous and abrasive an acoustic songwriter can and should be in the 21st Century.' -
Tom Robinson - BBC 6music

Returning to Florence Arts Centre after a superb show in the summer of 2016, Russell Joslin is a singer-songwriter with folk roots but a punk swagger. His songs are firmly rooted in the here and now. Russell Joslin reframes traditional folk story-telling with a 21st century kick, fusing pertinent and provocative lyrics with an abrasive guitar style and an unflinching honesty. Russell will be playing a set of songs from his three critically-acclaimed albums, plus tracks from his forthcoming new album, and will be joined by the beautiful voice of Australian vocalist Sarah McCaig.

This is folk music refracted through the prism of Velvet Underground, Husker Du and The Sisters of Mercy. Don't expect discreet and decorous folk; rather Joslin empties his heart with honesty, vitality and passionate abandon - 4 out of 5 - Rock n Reel - Harlequins album review

Russell Joslin is a singer/songwriter based in North East London He grew up in the countryside of Wiltshire before moving to London and quickly found himself the solo support act to much larger touring bands such as The Early Years, Scouting for Girls and Dot Allison. His first album Dream Token was released in 2009 and was received by the press as ‘an album of eloquent beauty’, his sophomore effort Jet Black And White was released summer 2011 and led to national radio play on BBC radio and XFM.

When Sarah McCaig and Russell Joslin met it was a meeting of souls which has resulted in one of the most intriguing duets on the London folk scene and beyond; (‘ the musical charge they generated together was truly electrifying’ - Sarah moved into Russell’s East London flat in 2011 after growing up in Melbourne, Australia, she had progressed from lead vocalist in numerous musical theatre productions to singer in St.Kilda based rock bands. Her unique voice and melodically dissonant harmony style coupled with Joslin’s songwriting has been described as ‘extreme folk at its best’ by

Over the last couple of years the duet have performed three tours of continental Europe, taking in Finland, Germany and Switzerland, FMM Sines World Music Festival in Portugal, Sark Folk Festival, Lyme Regis Folk Weekend plus numerous high profile London dates including a November gig supporting Martha Tilston.
