Saturday 29 April to Saturday 27 May
Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm
In our Long Gallery this Spring you'll find a vibrant collection of textiles from Tanzania alongside jewellery, accessories and woven baskets. The items are all for sale and come to us direct from Africa as part of the Cumbria Rungwe Community Link.
The Cumbria-Rungwe Community Link (CRCL) was established in 1987 with the aim of linking two rural communities from West Cumbria in the UK and the Rungwe district in Tanzania. Their principle objective is to promote awareness and understanding between what may appear to be two very different cultures. Through a process of experiencing something of each other’s lives they seek to promote friendship and a realisation of what people have in common. Now celebrating 30 years the link is busier than ever, and this year we will be welcoming a group form Tanzania along to Florence for a special get-together.
Meanwhile, you can see this fabulous selection of kanga and kitenge throughout May; all items are for sale so you can take home an original to brighten up your wardrobe or your home.
